popcorn poppin on the apricot tree

"popcorn has got to be as addicting as crack" -Tessa Anorian Conder

I am on the floor. Tessa is lookin at boots online on my bed. Court is skyping her friends on her bed.   All of a sudden, I got this severe craving for popcorn so I grabbed a pack and walked on into the kitchen.  As I stood there listening to the cleaning lady change her ringtone, the kernels started to pop, I started thinking about what was going on inside that bag.  Think about it!! These tiny little kernels turn into fluffy balls of goodness.  HOW!?  It truely is a miracle.  Love the good man that thought up this one. Well- until next time, friends.

hallooweeeeenn

what a fun fun weekend!!
Friday night was the big halloween dance on campus.  Something I have learned- whatever you do, it's only what you make of it.  If you go into tellin' yourself it's dumb and not fun... it's not going to be.  But if you tell yourself you are going to make it fun, you are going to have a blast. This is what me and my friends made of the dance...

before the dance....
Courtney, Peri, Tessa, Jacob, Me, and Kaleb (missin' James who is in on the mainland for a cross country thing)

Court and I had an real nice slow dance together :)

And for the grand finale!! Me and Tessa did a run, jump and spin move. It was really great.

Saturday we got up, after sleeping for only 4 hours, and ran the Breast Cancer 5k

Jacob got first place. What a stud.

Then guess what I got to do!?

Our friend lydia and her brother and sister-in-law took me and tessa SURFING!! I was real sad to leave court behind but she had to work . We went 12 hours without seeing each other.  It was awfully strange, sad, and not cool.  we went to turtle bay.  It was tough.  My ribs and hips feel bruised.  Not sure why.  The board was ginormous . We had a grand time. Tessa has become a really great friend.  Love her so much.  Seems like I have known her forever!  I'm sure everyone will get to meet her at Christmastime.

That night (while Court is still freakin working) me, tessa, peri, macall, and katie went over to the haunted lagoon at the PCC.  I was freaked out.  You walk through a mini haunted house and then get on a boat and go on this ride where creepy people come out of the water and sometimes get in the boat, sometimes grab your legs, always make you scream. It was crazy fun.  We got dumped on.  I mean we were completely soaked from this rain. Head to toe, it looked like we had all taken showers.  Pictures to come.  Hope everyone had a beautifully spooky weekend.  Love you all!!! ...... all 4 of you that read this...

MIA

my cute mom sent me the greatest package.  full of work out shorts and tank tops...my two favorite things, with a few other things thrown in the mix.  there were two brand new pairs of running shorts... within 7 hours of having this package, I cannot find a pair of the shorts.  court is probably so sick of hearing about this but I am just so distraught.  where could they have gone? I've emptied drawers, looked under beds, looked through my locker looking closet. so sad. hopefully one day they will show up.

happy halloween weekend all :)

turnin' things classical

today was great.  all except for farming. I haven't put much up about my farming experiences because I need to ask this lady suzanne to send me all of the pictures from it but for my history class, we have been put into groups and each group is expected to plant crops.  The first day of this we were taken out to timbuktoo.  She told us we needed to go cut out a 10 x 10 plot with our group... mind you, the shrubs we were cutting down were taller than me and pokey and I had NO idea what I was doing.  Needless to say, the Native Hawaiian boy in our group gets annoyed with me real easily.

Then, the second time we went out there, we had to plant our corn crops.  Each group had to choose if they were going to be Europeans or Native Americans.  Well we chose Native Americans- not knowing what the difference was.  We get out to the farm and the teacher goes ok Natives!!! The men never worked on the farms in these families, it was the women.  If only I could show you the face I made......

Something a lot like this.  Me and Suzanne had to just start digging away.  Luckily our Native, Eddie can't keep his hands off of the dumb thing and helped A LOT!

Then, we went out again on Tuesday and decided that we needed to go again when we would have more time. We decided to go today at noon.  So I went.  IT WAS HOT! Eddie brough this container with fish in it... yes he went and caught fish to put under our crops to give them nutrients.... (he loves to farm if you couldn't tell by now) SO I told him I was fine with that but I wasn't going to be able to help him with that.  In the meantime, me and Suzanne planted our sunflowers and pumpkin squash. When we had to water all of these things when we finished, I didn't do in the right technique.  Eddie got mad at me and took over.  I was muddy. I was sweaty.  I was hot.  I could care less at this point.

It is kinda fun in some ways.. but in other ways its really not fun at all.  I'd much rather be working on my tan or something.

other than that it was a regular day... oh besides the fact that I am sitting here listening to courtney listen to various music selections such as Hawaiian chants, classical music, and opera sounding things... things that are way beyond the level of the mo tab.  It's making me laugh a lot inside, but it is for a test tomorrow so I can't laugh until she is ready to laugh with me.  Until then, I will just blog about it and let her find this later.

another sleepover with tessa tonight.  she's fun. love our sleepovers. maybe this time we could get a little more sleep.

HAAAAAALELLLLUUUUJJJAAAHHHHH!!!! HAAALLLLEELLLUUJJAHHH!! HALELUJAH! HALELUJAH! HALEEEEEEEYELUJAH!!!!! thats the song we are listening to right now. bahahahahahahhahahhaha loving my life in hawaii. truely. this place is home.

ttueessdaayyy funnn

tuesdays have turned into a night of fun around here the past few weeks.
last week, we went and hot tubbed at Turtle Bay
This week, WE RENTED A CAR!!! a car! It was really great.  Me, Peri, Tessa, Macall, and of course my favorite little Courtney all decided we needed halloween costumes... so what better thing to do than rent a car and head over to good will?

So we did. Spent about an hour and a half there- picked out some real great outfits.  After that, we headed to walmart to finish off the costumes and get some necessities.  We had some mishaps extending the amount of time that we got our car but we did it and it was great fun!

I learned a few things....
1. I really know how to mismatch clothes
2. Screaming obscene things out car windows is just about as fun as any other thing someone could do.
3. I miss playing in cars with my friends.
4. I can put on a real great dance show for people in any parking lot.
5. When girls get hungry, they get cranky.  You've got to pull out the wittiest parts of your brain to make a car ride less awkward. I'm pretty good at it, so no worries.
6. And for the last thing I learned tonight is that no matter your situation, make the best of it.
Some people have a pretty face.
Some people know how to make others laugh.
Some people don't have the ideal situation they would like.
Some people can't talk to their families for months at a time.

No matter what it is... Hard or easy, it's going to make you grow stronger.  So why not put your best foot forward and just enjoy the ride?

squats and lunges

I wish I could work out all the time... except for when I take a break to drink some orange guava juice and eat some pineapple... other than that- I want to work out all the time.

I get awfully grumpy when I don't go running regularly (which has turned into every MWF morning).... due to a late night because Tessa desided to crash at our place last night, we didn't make it to the gym today.  I hate that feeling.  Truely I do.  But loved the sleepover.

Tonight court was so sweet and let me take her on a magic carpet ride out to our courtyard where many-a girls can see us.  We giggle and laugh as I make us do various moves such as jump up and down doing jumping squats to make our inner thighs burn and laying on your side moving your leg around like a bicycle to make your butt hurt so bad you think you can feel it getting tighter by the minute.  I love it.

These are the moments we won't forget.
These are the moments we we will cherish.
These are the moments that we are going to tone our core, butt, and legs so much that every single boy is going to want to kiss us.

who sucks at blogging....

I won't bore you with stories of my weekend.  I'll just post fun pictures and let you figure out on your own, in the meantime I will work on actually writing on this thing more than every monday night when i have 6847392 things to say...

making coookies with paige, jessica, and moriah.

pumpkin carving with (from left) court, james, peri, tessa, jacob, me, kaleb

we created a giant couch on tessa's patio. it is beautiful. outlook of the ocean... sadly disrupted by a giant rat

we rode in the car like this. for 3 hours. squished... macall, court, me, and tessa... with peri laying ontop of us... all wearing tessa's clothes because we didn't have time to go home and change... Mike and friend that I can't remember his name took us to a haunted plantation that was sold out so we resorted to going ice skating- first time  so far that I have really missed utah!

much love.  I am going to be more fun soon.  I really am.  I just get so distracted with everything else.  Don't give up on me, my 3 followers... one being a chick that is probably reading this 6 feet away from me :)

poor little asian...

I made a poor little oritental girl cry today. I hate telling people they are wrong, mainly because I hate getting told I am wrong.  But once water droplets start to form in the eyes, than we really know there is a problem.

We were in English and all had a rough draft of an essay due, it was a peer editing day.  Well, on these days, since there are so many people who have english as their second language, she likes us to exchange papers with one person that has english as their first language and then one with it as their second.... I usually exchange with Kayla, this chick from Hong Kong or something.  She is cute.  Always does a really good job with papers!!

Well, today as I read her paper, I realizes she completely misunderstood the assignment.  As I explained to her what she did wrong and pretty much broke it to the little lady that she had to redo her paper, her eyes started to get all red and filled up with tears.  Great, I was only trying to help and now I have put the chick in tears.

I can only imagine what happened once she was all alone or no one was looking.  That's about the excitement of my day.

Thanks to Jazzy, I figured out how to put this video up.  This is a round of Kissing Rugby.  It's quite hilarious.  I wasn't very good at this game because I was so short compared to all the guys that I wasn't too great at attacking.  I'm sure with practice someday I will be able to take on a giant college guy.  Until then, he can just slam me to a hard floor in a hot and sweaty room with no AC and viciously come at me to kiss me on the cheek.  I'm willing to risk a giant rug burn.

buses beaches and burns

hi everybody. haven't posted in a real long time. Life has been crazy!! We will begin all the way back at Thursday.

We were sick of school. Truely. Even though I'm pretty sure we had spent most of the day Wednesday at the beach.... we needed some serious get away time. We never know where we are going to end up, but we called Peri and Tessa and told them to get their butts over here- we were goin' on an adventure. Hopped on a bus headed towards North Shore and we ended up...

MATSUMOTO'S famous shave ice. Should have known. It was delicious. I ate my body weight in ice and sugar that evening, but let's be honest that's become a really great hobby these days. Eating things equal to my body weight. It was a real fun adventure.

We kept wanting to shop around but would run into silly little signs like this. Since the sun goes down at 6:30 and Tessa had to be back for dance at 8:30 oh and all the stores were closed, we needed to catch the next bus back to good ol' La'ie.....

Peri brought us granola bars

we had fun. then we got dumped on. but we still had fun.

FRIDAY
Just regular class. That night we went to midnight madness.. just the opening shindig for the basketball teams. It was nice. Our whole mens basketball team is married. They made sure to let us all know they were taken as they each went around and introduced themselves. It's ok. I'm not too bent out of shape about it. We forgot to document- sorry! After that we went to our local movie theatre to see Footloose.

It's kind of small. But does the job. It was a cute little show. I got to wear a sweatshirt for the first time. I was pretty happy about that. I feel like it's bad news when I get super cold when it's 73 degrees outside. Not really sure what Christmas has in store for me, but we will worry about that only when we have to. We went with Tessa, Peri, Macall, Ali and Katie. Love these girls.

We got to ride in a car. It was weird. Hadn't been in one of those in a LONG time. We sang our lungs out to Katy Perry's firework. Great innocent fun.

Saturday

We have been wanting to venture over to the swap meet for like weeks now. So we finally did. We got on the bus at 11 a.m. not completely sure where to be getting off but Court had a semi good idea of what was going on. We started to ride. The chick infront of us got super sick. She was throwing up. We were only 20 minutes into this ride. Then, when we thought we were suppose to get off and started to do so, the bus driver told us we still had to stay on, by that time our seats were jacked and we had to stand for so long. It sucks to stand on a bus when you can't reach the handles to hold onto and you are eye level with every armpit on that thing. We finally made it to Salk Lake Ave. where the Aloha stadium was! We shopped around and bought all different little things. (keep it mind that it was about 1:30 and we all needed food). Me and Court bought Ukeleles. They are cute. We are cute with them. We will get real good at it.

At this point, Peri is grumpy. Like really really grumpy. We walked from one side of the highway to the other trying to figure out what to do. Since I am about the only person these days without internet on their phone, I didn't have to be held responisble of where to go. We would start walking down this highway and decide that it really probably wasn't the wisest thing to be doing. We finally decided to ask another person where to get food. "Why would we be asking someone else AGAIN!?" This was a phrase spoken by peri at lest 22.4 times in these 3 minutes. As soon as the man told us we should get on the bus because it was too far of a walk, the child in Peri came out "I am NOT getting on bus guys!! No way!! This is so stupid. My idea is going to be the right one! I know it!" Was not funny at the moment. It was 3:30. She was mad. We were stranded. We ended up hysterically laughing later on about the whole ordeal. We got on the bus and decided to get off at our transfer stop and find food. Crowded bus. I had TWO ukeleles on my back because court was carrying our backpack, got a few weird stares about that one. Watched a girl fight. One girl literally ripping out another girls hair on the side of the road. There are many things that keep you entertained on a long bus ride. Long story short, we made it to The Shack. We each chugged our drinks and scarffed down our burgers. It was fabulous. We were much too grumpy and hungry to get any pictures of this day thus far. Real sorry about this... but here we are waiting for the final bus!

as you can see from our outfits, we were feeling quite rebellious. wanted to wear our slut outfits for the day. so hot. we made it back home safely. This place truely does feel like home. It's a very very safe place. Especially for Hawaii. If you leave town, and anyone asks where you are from, we say "La'ie" and their immediate response is... oh you are mormon then, huh? Super great place.

And now for the final!!! Kissing Rugby. The most hilarious game ever! We went over to the quite house (all the houses here have names, Tessa lives in the mofia house because all her roommates are Russian. This is called the quite house, not sure why but there are 30 girls living here) There were probably about a hundered people there. No air conditioning. It was hot. All the girls each got a number. All the boys got a letter. The guy would either call out 2 letters and a number or 2 numbers and a letter. Say he called out a number, so that girl would go kneel in the middle of the circle. Then he would call a letter, that means that boy would have to go also kneel there and his goal is to kiss the girl on the cheek.. well this is where the fun comes in! The guy calls out another number and that girl has to go kneel down and she is trying to kiss the boy before the boy kisses the other girl. Lots of wrestling. Lots of rug burns. Lots of pouncing. SO. MUCH. FUN!!!! Best night here so far.

I am currently in the process of figuring out how to get a video of this game on here. Hopefully it will be posted soon!!

I have more things to blog about but I should save it for a day when I have nothing else to blog about, and lots of homework. Even though that definition fits tonight. oh... by the way. our school mascot is a seasider. I have his pose down to an art.

should I be looking both ways?

Fun fact about Hawaii... so many streets here are one way. It makes for a pretty confusing lifestyle. When we first arrived in Waikiki with Sue, it took like an extra 20 minutes to get into the hotel. Not to find it, to get into the parking lot because we kept running into one way streets that would block us from getting in the dang place! SO this got me thinking as I was crossing the street today... I look completely silly looking both ways!!
DUUHH!!! this sign is staring at me every time I cross the street but even though I really only need to look the one way, I ALWAYS look the other way. My intentions to look the other way aren't even to see if a biker is coming or anything, in my head I am still making sure cars aren't coming from that direction. The second I get used to looking for cars here, I'm going to arrive home in SLC and get hit by a semi. Just wait.

77 bus stops

happy late hump day to all. Thursday Court and I celebrated the one year mark of my brother, Michael, and her good friend, Jacob, being on their misisons for exactly one year. What better way to celebrate than to take an hour and a half bus ride down the oceanside to the ghetto of hawaii to eat some mexican food? we didn't really know where we were going. but we knew we wanted mexican food, and this bus was the way to get it. soo.... about 77 bus stops into this journey, we decide to yank the little thing that tells the bus driver to drop us off. we get off the bus... no mexican food in sight. take a walk a block or 2 and here we have it. the tiniest shack of a place anyone has ever seen. walk in and see 6 small tables just waiting for guests. then not to mention the hour it took to prepare the mexican food. it was delicious.
on the way back, we may or may not have somehow ended up at a random bus stop by ourselves on the bus... we considered stealing the bus. but first we needed to document.
we had a group project we needed finished for the next day and had about half of it done, which gives us great reasoning to accept an invitation to the beach on the way home. we arrived at the beach at 9 pm. did a little night swimming. had a chat on the beach. before we knew it we were headed back to the good 'ol dorm room at 1:30 in the morning... sorry our powerpoint wasn't the highest quality anyone had seen- I fully blame the beach. another life lesson learned: don't play games with boys... or even girls that you don't know without playing the name game. It'll never turn out good. Not even worth the risk. THEN last night was so you think you can sing, on campus. I was pretty excited to go just because I didn't know what was in store for us. What better way to sing in a singing competetion than in your native tongue? Apparently there isn't. Because the first half of this shindig was in vietnamese, chinese, or japanese. this is the typical feedback they'd get from the judges "well... I couldn't understand you, but I could sure feel the emotion!" too funny. After the first round, it ended up being much better and tons of fun. Highlight of the night: At one point in the competiton, one of the contestants was playing the piano while singing. He asked a couple of girls to come out from the audience so he could sing to them. Charming, right? Well before we know it, this polynesian chick is bookin' it down the stairs to get sang to. She jumps onto his lap and holds on for her life. The second she made a subtle movement she completely plops onto the ground. I'm sayin' butt smackin the ground and her face almost smacking right after. I have never laughed so hard before. Really great. Not to mention the fact that the most beautiful boy was hosting the show. mmmm :) This girl lost in the final round, to George from the Phillipines but she was hilarious.
Afterwards, we managed to climb ontop of La'ie Elementary school and chill on the roof. The boys we hang out with are high maintenece. Always gotta be doing something.
oh... and this is Perpigillian. aka: peri. she is going to marry my brother. for the time being, we are in love.
more to come soon.

careful what you wish for...

I love all the friends I have made here at BYUH. I truely do. BUt let me introduce you to one in particular.

Everybody, meet Paige. Paige Toly.

Paige lives 2 doors over from us, which helps make sure that we see her every single day. Somedays we like it, somedays we want to freak out. I can't quite remember right where to begin so let's start with this story...

A group of us were sitting in the caf, eating dinner. Paige had a cup of milk and as she is drinking this milk says, "I wish this milk was warm" um... hm.... (everybody looks at everyone else) then she continues her story "want to know what I do at home? I take a nice bubble bath and then rub baby lotion all over my body so that I smell just like a baby. Then, I put my footie onesie pajamas on and drink a big cup of warm milk!!" If you aren't feeling awkward for me reading this, than you have issues. This story truely sums up everything about this chick.

I am convinced that she has a girl crush on me. On Sunday morning when I was getting ready for church I heard something slip under my door, I look at there is a note (as I am reading this note I can hear Paige on the other side of the door blowing this note further and further into my room) "sarah- I love your bum!! So cute! keep boys away! :) from: Bum Lover" like.... girlfriend..... what the heck....
this whole slipping things under our door has become a regular occurance. if our door is closed, when you open it, it is no longer a suprise if this is what you find..

this particular instance she was shoving starbursts under our door.

She is a silly silly girl. Other things she does: when we think something scary is in our room she will come search it from head to toe for us (that is- we aren't allowed to call her name when we need help. we have to "cock-a-doodle-do" for her), anytime she seems me in my underwear- she is sure to compliment it. she tells us all about her crush, his name is b.j., yes... b.j......., but just watch out because after eating a meal with her- chances are she will ask you to feel her "food baby".

more to come from the hawaiian island of oahu :)
